Fiber Fiber Everywhere
In the world of DIY and Uncommon Threads, I did the taping with Myra Wood and here are a few pics.....
a couple of days before the shoot hangin' out at the shop:
left to right - Dawn, me, Myra
My crochet roving bag in progress:
At DIY ....after the taping was done!
left to right: me (with totally goofy look on my face), Allison the ultra charming and talented host, Alana, the producer for our segment who was incredibly patient and mellos, Myra ...duh? Myra is one of the most creative freeform knit/crochet forces on the planet, and Dawn, another gifted, free spirit who comes from the world of acting and ...well,....I hate writing a bunch of gushy stuff....but the positive vibes were seriously flowing!
KNIT
I am now working on a chunky knit cardigan for my soon to be born grandson. Okay. He's not FULLY my grandson...meaning, my step daughter is pregnant so it's not like I've had any part in this....but hey! I still get to knit for the little guy!!! And knit I am. Along with my two 'granddaughters' who I'm going to make matching 'jumpers' for! ha! Doncha love it? Anyway...pic coming soon. ....I'll just get it a bit further. I've done the back and two fronts...just need to do the little tiny sleeves. Sooooooo cute!
FILMS
If you haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine.....you are missing out on something truly wonderful. This film is a feel-good, quirky, gem. One of those oh-so-rare experiences at the theater. Love it.
RAW
yep. We're still raw. Here's a quick one for you. Want a cold drink and you're bored with water? Take some naturally sparkling water, (not the kind with fake carbonation) and add a little bit ...like 1 teaspoon of organic vanilla extract. Add ice, stir....and you've got yourself a raw, vegan cream soda! Deeeeeeeeee-licious!
LIFE
I've been reading the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. It's very slow going but it is really speaking to me. I copied this from the book:
1) I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost...I am hopeless.
It isn't my falut.
It takes forever to find a way out.2) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.3) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in...it's a habit.
My eyes are open
I know where I am
It is MY fault.
I get out immediately.4) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I walk around it.5) I walk down another street.
I love that. I hope it speaks to someone else the way it spoke to me.
It is a struggle to enjoy our moments, but life IS a struggle. Somebody recently said to me, 'oh, your back was hurting you because of stress.' Well, stress is unavoidable. I mean, the only option is death. Our true test is how we deal with our stresses. Not how we avoid them. And so our path goes..........we knit to help our stress. There is true comfort in yarn. Knitting always brings me to a place where I think about the people in my life. Truly, compassion is the diamond of all jewels in our hearts.
hmmmmmmmmm.
